Statement of Workers’ Unity for the
Resignation of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
We
are workers, employees, unionists and members of the urban poor, drivers-small operators and vendors who come together to
stand and work together for the resignation of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as President of the Philippines.
We say: Enough of Gloria’s corruption and plunder, oppression, and repression of the Filipino people! Enough of her
crimes against the people!
Enough of Gloria’s corruption and plunder! Jose Pidal account, Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Joc-joc Bolante and fertilizer
scam, Comelec computerization program, North Rail and South Rail projects, Cyber-Education Project, and NBN-ZTE – these
have been the words and phrases for corruption and plunder under the Arroyo administration. In all of these, no venue for
truth and accountability has been provided by the government: No credible investigation has been launched, no government official
has been put behind bars. What we see are evidences that point to the culpability of Mrs. Arroyo, her family and closest allies
in government. What we see are attempts of this government to hide the truth and evade accountability.
Enough of Gloria’s oppression of the Filipino people!
Landlessness, high prices, low wages and salaries, retrenchment
and contractualization, demolition of homes, poor basic services -- these are the daily experiences of the Filipino people
under Gloria’s administration who continue to serve only the interests of foreign capitalists and her cronies.
Enough of Gloria’s repression of the Filipino people! Extra-judicial killings of more than 800 people, enforced disappearances, union
busting, strike busting, militarization in workplaces and urban poor communities – these have been the responses of
the Arroyo administration to those who dared to oppose her anti-workers and anti-people policies. In all of these, no thoroughgoing investigations have been made. We only hear her retinue of cabinet officials
and top generals doing official denials. What we see are the policies of this government to silence her critics and continue
to cling to power.
We who produce wealth for the
country, yet are made even poorer by the policies of her administration, unite with other sectors in saying “Tama na!” We who form part
of the Filipino people, yet are always at the losing end of her anti-people, anti-national measures, unite with other sectors
in saying “Sobra
na!” We who barely live by the fruits of our unremitting labor, yet are always the victims of corruption
and plunder in government, unite with other sectors in saying “Gloria, Resign na!” #

WORKERS ALLIANCE FOR
THE RESIGNATION OF GLORIA (WAR GLORIA)
WAR-Gloria is a Novaliches-wide
Alliance of Workers and Urban Poor calling for the resignation of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
United to stand against the different issues that hounds the Arroyo Adminstration that are clearly self-serving and against
the interests of the workers and urban poor. Unanswered questions of the legality of her office, breaking her promise to the
workers for the P125 wage increase, in the face of soaring prices of rice and basic commodities, oil price increases, massive
corruption in gov't projects like the very famous NBN-ZTE deal. Unresolved cases of massice political killings and trade union
repressions
The
Workers Protest Activity will kick-off tomorrow March 27,
will be the as follow: mobile propaganda teams going into communities and factories
from 8am to 4pm accompanied by petition signing, workers march which will converge in
front of the Nova Mall, Quirino Highway, Novaliches at 4pm, and a Human Chain
will culminate the said event at 6pm.
The WAR-GLORIA of Novaliches is a member of the alliance and an active member
of the Council of Leaders of the WORKERS ACTION! Alliance.

Workers to hold coordinated, localized protest actions across Metro Manila vs Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s
cover-up and lies.
From the pier to Tutuban in Manila, Novaliches,
Marikina, Pasig and Makati up to Las Pinas, Cavite and Laguna at the south of Metro Manila, a new workers’ alliance
dubbed as Workers Action declared they would conduct coordinated localized protests against the burdensome Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
government on March 27.
In Laguna, members of Ilaw Buklod Manggagawa (IBM) and employees’ union in
NXP Electronics will conduct a mobile picket in workers’ enclaves in Canlubang. They also plan to ask people to sign
petitions pressing Arroyo to stop its cover-up operation and lies regarding its corrupt transactions.
In M. Alvares Avenue at Las Pinas workers will launch their local alliance that
would be a member of Workers Action. After the launch, they will have a program at the Las Pinas market. In the clusters of
factories in Marikina, Pasig and Makati, there will also be picket-protests and noise-barrages.
In Cavite, workers from plants and communities in Monterey at Langkaan will converge
and march against the Arroyo government’s cover-up of the truth. 4K or Kilusan para sa Katotohanan at Katarungan Laban
sa Katiwalian, composed of urban poor groups, and WARM or Workers for Arroyo’s Resignation Movement and SMB-Sigaw ng
Manggagawa at Bayan-Patalsikin si Gloria, will work together to conduct this protest action.
Arroyo’s much-vaunted economic fundamentals are killing off jobs and livelihood. such
as the garments firms that had been forced to close down or retrench workers last year, even as others that remained
still fear they’ll have to close or retrench this year. There is also massive retrenchment going on even in big and
strategic firms because of its management’s drive to replace workers with more exploited contractual employees. The
worsening contractualization is brought about by Arroyo’s implementation of policies on liberalization.
”Without let-up, the Arroyo government is making the Filipino people suffer
for their policies and excesses, so it’s only right for workers to come together and hold protest-actions,”
said Labog. He called on everyone to support the local protests of Workers’ Action.
